About Us

Background

The idea of Moonlight primary and secondary came into existence  as a community initiative  in the year 2012 to provide accessible quality education in Mogadishu city. The school is unique in that it is a community driven project to access quality education. The school was first funded by founding members then followed by the parents who brought their children to the school. The school is intended to be  a place where dreams will be nurtured, talents discovered, and young people’s futures shaped. The school aims to provide quality, inclusive, and modern education that empowers every learner to reach his/her full potential regardless of their background or circumstance. The school will not only raise academic standards but will also promote values of citizenship, leadership, and unity with a strong religious background to promote upright moral values.

School reflects the community culture of unity, generosity, respect for elders, and the pursuit of knowledge. Somali culture has always valued Ilmi (knowledge), and the school is established to restore and strengthen that legacy. All parents, guardians, and community leaders intend to be active participants. Education is a shared responsibility, and stakeholders need to support learners/teachers, monitor learners learning and teaching process to keep the school thriving. The school is intended to become a place where future scholars, leaders, and reformers are shaped in the future.

The school  needs all the stakeholders(school management team, teachers, learners, parents, and community members) to walk together  to achieve its intended goals. All the stakeholders are encouraged to continue supporting the institution, monitor its progress, hold the management accountable, and contribute to its success in any way possible. By investing in our children today, we are investing in peace, prosperity, and the future of our entire community. Together, we build a better future and light the path for our children
